*** If you don’t itemize your deductions, you may reduce your taxable income by up to $300 ($600 for couples) above the federal standard deduction for your contributions of cash to public charities, including Critical Explorers. (Normally, no additional deduction is permitted.)
*** Itemizers may deduct cash gifts up to 100 percent of their adjusted gross income in 2020—up from 60 percent.
*** Required minimum distributions from retirement accounts are suspended for 2020. However, individuals still can make a qualified charitable distribution (“QCD”) of up to $100,000 from their IRAs. Such a direct distribution would not be included in taxable income.
